Oakridge pays per week based upon age, experience, years of work with Oakridge, skills, etc. Brian Ball determines
each pay scale in communication with each staffer. Compensation includes pay, plus room and board, and some
recreation. If possible, and based upon work ethic, Oakridge may pay MORE than the minimum. Workdays are
generally M-F, with T, W, & TH being the longest days. Staffers are generally asked to assist no more than 4
weekends as well, throughout the summer.
NOTE: It is expected that ALL STAFF will attend our Staff Orientation Week (and receive half pay). If you can’t
attend this week for any reason, your first week on staff will be without pay, since we will have to do a SECOND
ORIENTATION for you individually. Please make this first Orientation week, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!! It helps
EVERYONE!
GENERAL OAKRIDGE SUMMER STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION
Oakridge summer staff will assist in the following areas, more or less, depending on all the variables.
FOOD SERVICE - we serve all the meals to our guests, so that will mean about 10,000 plates of food this summer!
Obviously our cooks need help.
SNACK SHACK - we offer a full service snack shack 3 times per day - drinks, ice cream, grill, candy, nachos, chips,
etc.
CLEANING - cleaning the dining hall, chapel, dorms, lodges, cafe, etc. Also, staff will keep their own rooms clean and
orderly.
MAINTENANCE & LANDSCAPING - helping with cleaning sidewalks, recreation fields, weed eating, blowing, raking,
mowing, etc.
RECREATION - organizing and overseeing recreation such as marksmanship, archery, trampoline, plastic slip-n-
slide, moonwalk, paintball, road trips, go karts, canoeing, skiing, sailing, human foosball, confidence course, etc.
PROGRAM - helping with music, drama, skits, games, etc. in the teaching session times (when we do the program – 4
weeks this summer)
RELATIONSHIPS - developing friendships with campers and engaging them in meaningful spiritual conversation.
These conversations provide wonderful opportunity for evangelism and strengthening campers
PERSONAL DISCIPLESHIP - the opportunity to be challenged to work as a spiritual team in a Christian camp setting,
to develop yourself and other team members spiritually in the Lord. Bible memory verses and a discipleship manual
will be used for all summer staff, and it will be expected that all staff participate.
FUN - Staff outings for fun will be planned throughout the summer.
CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY - the opportunity to live in community on a Christian camp and involve you in the lives of the
families and church that are associated with Oakridge. Church ministry & service opportunities are available.
Oakridge is looking for committed Christians, who are service and ministry oriented, and who have a strong work
ethic with a high sense of integrity.
OAKRIDGE APPEARANCE CODE
The Oakridge appearance code includes the guidelines below.
1) HAIR – neat and well kept, out of the eyes; no unnatural coloring
2) SHIRTS – Oakridge provides 4 shirts for each summer staffer. There is a half price charge for these
shirts. Each day (M-T) Oakridge staff will wear a particular COLOR shirt. This will help our guests to
identify our staff. (On Friday wear your own T-Shirt) Our color selections will be communicated weekly.
These are required dress. Also, one of these shirts will be required during weekend retreats. Otherwise,
you are free to wear whatever shirts you choose with the following guidelines: ladies, please wear bras,
and please wear shirts that make your bras unseen (Please no tank tops or spaghetti straps); all shirts
should promote something pro-Christian or neutral; please avoid promoting secular bands, movies,
improper TV shows, etc; avoid clothing with negative or derogatory statements.
3) SWIMSUITS – modesty is the key; for ladies, some two pieces are more modest than some one piece
suits. T-shirts over suits are sometimes appropriate. Guys, be modest as well!
4) SHORTS – shorts should be medium or longer shorts, please no short shorts or shorts that are too tight.
5) UNDERWEAR – we don’t want to see your underwear or bras. PERIOD.
6) PANTS – Guys, no baggy pants please. If you have to pull them up, they’re too loose. Around camp,
please do not wear: a) pants with writing on the BOTTOM; b) pajamas.
7) BODY PIERCING – Oakridge recommends no body jewelry for guys. However, if you must – limit it to one
earring per ear. Girls should limit body jewelry to the ears while on Oakridge property (no more than 2
earrings per ear).
8) TATTOOS – try to keep them covered as much as possible.
9) FINGERNAILS – neatly trimmed, no long nails please ladies. It makes kitchen and cleaning work difficult.

5. Build your own DAILY Schedule to fulfill your key areas of responsibility so that we all can be aware of each
